This annual workshop series highlights advances in applications, algorithms, and parallel implementations of computer simulation methods for the study of condensed matter systems.

For 33 of the last 35 years, the Center for Simulational Physics' (CSP) annual workshop has been a week-long in-person event held on campus. This will be the second year that the workshop, "Recent Developments in Computer Simulation Studies in Condensed Matter Physics" will be hosted via Zoom due to the pandemic. When held in person, space constraints limited the number of participants to around 50 people. The virtual space can accommodate 3 times as many people, and like last year, over 150 people from all over the world have registered to attend this year's workshop.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics, and other numerical studies of material growth, structural and magnetic phase transitions, polymers, surfaces, nanostructures, strongly correlated electron systems and models of exotic quantum phases. Other areas of interest include interfaces granular flow and other non- equilibrium systems, genomics, membranes and protein folding, free energy determinations, electronic structure, machine learning and novel simulation algorithms.

Invited Speakers include:

  • Professor Amanda Barnard, Australian National University
  • Professor Maytal Caspary Toroker, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
  • Professor Andrew Ferguson, University of Chicago
  • Dr. Gary Grest, Sandia National Laboratories
  • Dr. Satoshi Morita, University of Tokyo
  • Dr. Von Braun Nascimento, UFMG - Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais
  • Professor Tanja Schilling, Albert Ludwigs Universitat Freiburg
  • Professor Zhiting Tian, Cornell University
