IMPORTANT INFO - (11/19/09) - There will be NO extra session tonight. We will have extra lab sessions after the Thanksgiving break. Have a good break! LM.

IMPORTANT INFO - (11/17/09) - The weather forecast does not look good tonight. Keep an eye on things, but we may not be able to do anything tonight.

- On Tuesday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 8, 2009, we will have the lab final. You need come to only one of these and take the lab final just once (you cannot take it more than once, so if you come on the 1st, then that is your one shot at it). The lab final consists of 10 questions. I will have a sample lab final up by the end of the week. Remember that the lab final is 20% of your grade, so plan on taking it. It will be given from 8 - 9 PM in room 202. It should only take you 10-15 minutes, but I will leave at 9 PM, so make sure you are there before 9. If the sky is clear on those nights, we will continue with the testing after you've taken the lab final. Any questions, send me an e-mail.

IMPORTANT INFO - (11/12/09) - If the weather is clear tonight - REPEAT, if the weather is clear tonight - we will have an extra practice/testing session at the usual time. Because of all the rain, it is likely to be very wet up there and so please exercise all caution while making your way from the inside of the building to the observing bays.

IMPORTANT INFO - (11/10/09) - Given the inclement weather tonight, class is cancelled.

IMPORTANT INFO - Given the greater than average number of classes cancelled due to bad weather, I have decided to cut back the number of labs that must be completed from 4 to 3. Thus, the 80 points that comprise your "lab score" (see syllabus) will now be earned via a total of 3 labs. The first 2 labs that you choose to do will earn you 27 points each, and the third lab will earn you 26 points. If you have any questions about this new policy, please let me know.

Once again...YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO THREE LABS TO EARN YOUR TOTAL OF 80 LAB POINTS. The remaining 20 lab points will come via the Lab Final Exam (see syllabus).

(10/27/09) - Pouring rain...no class.

(10/06/09) - Cloudy and completely overcast tonight...no class.

(09/15/09) - The weather forecast for tonight is cloudy + rain. We will not have class. Let's hope for better weather next week.

(09/08/09) - The weather forecast for tonight is partly cloudy. It is completely overcast right now (7 PM), but we could get some clear patches here or there. My recommendation is to keep an eye on the weather, and come out if the sky is more than 50% clear. If you come out, go directly to the roof of the building (use the back stairway). The TA's will show you what areas you can stay in and what areas are strictly offlimits. Anyone caught in the off-limits areas of the roof will get an F for the course.
