THE PARENTS AND FAMILIES FUND (March 15, 2001 deadline)
The UGA Parents and Families Association strives to enrich the college experience for both parents and families and their students.  In an effort to assist with funding challenges or opportunities for undergraduate students at the University of Georgia, the Parents and Families Association created the Parents and Families Fund.  The funding must have relevance for undergraduate students.

UNIVERSITY PARTNERS VENTURE FUND
The President's Venture Fund is intended to provide grants for student and faculty development that promote the broader goals of the University.

UGARF FOREIGN TRAVEL SUPPORT (Recurring deadlines; see website)
The University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc., will provide support for travel in connection with international meetings outside the United States. Faculty members, research professionals, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students are eligible. Requests will be evaluated competitively, with priorities based on (a) the importance of the meeting and (b) the significance of the individual’s participation.   Application form and guidelines and deadlines may be obtained here.

UGARF BIOTECHNOLOGY AWARDS
The objective of this program is to support joint projects between the basic and the applied sciences. The intent is to encourage new biotechnology projects that will lead to the development of joint research proposals to be submitted for external funding. Funds may be used to support personnel, supplies, and essential equipment. Additional information is available by contacting the Director of Biological Resources and Biotechnology Programs, MLW@OVPR.uga.edu, or (706) 542-6512.  Application form and guidelines and deadlines may be obtained here.

FACULTY RESEARCH GRANTS (This year's deadline is past, October 23, 2000)
The Office of the Vice President for Research annually awards seed grants to junior faculty. The program is limited to tenure-track Assistant Professors and Instructors and to Permanent Assistant Research Scientists.  The grants do not have an upper limit but can be expected to not exceed about $5K because of limited funds.  Guidelines and application forms may be downloaded from the web.

UGARF RESEARCH FUND AWARDS (This year's deadline is past, January 26, 2001 for pre-proposals)
These are major awards ($75,000-$125,000 per year) for periods of 1-3 years; they are funded primarily from patent and royalty income.  They require a pre-proposal.  Guidelines and application forms may be downloaded from the web.

GEORGIA LOTTERY EQUIPMENT TRUST MATCHING
Matching funds for equipment purchases may be obtained through these funds.  Some details are available here.   Additional information on matching funds is available here.

BETWEEN GRANT SUPPORT
The Office of the Vice President for Research will endeavor to provide support to programs which have lapses in their external support.  An application form may be obtained from here.

GENERAL RESEARCH SUPPORT
The Office of the Vice President for Research will provide support for a wide variety of activities.  Information is available and an application form may be obtained from here.

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION AWARDS (This year's deadline is past, January 5, 2001)
The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach supports the IDEAS program the goal of which is to stimulate the globalization of UGA by encouraging faculty and staff to initiate promising new international projects.  IDEAS supports activities that lay the groundwork for innovative international initiatives.   Proposed activities should develop new, or build on existing, international linkages or collaborations.  Ideally, activities funded under IDEAS will result in the submission of a proposal for external funding.  Applicants with projects involving collaborations across disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply.  For more information go here.
