NSF Research Experiences
for Undergraduates

STUDENT PROJECTS

The range of research projects available for this summer spans the experimental and theoretical range of research activities of the department. Each faculty member listed below has requested to be a mentor for one REU student during the summer of 2004. Each project features traditional physics research techniques and methodologies applied to problems which either directly involve or overlap with other branches of science or which will have direct implications for other disciplines.

All the projects have been tailored for undergraduate participation. Most of the mentors have worked with one or more undergraduates either through previous formal programs or by employing UGA physics and astronomy majors. The work done during the summer by the REU students under our direction will not be "busy-work" and is expected to lead immediately or eventually to publication.
