Terrestrial Ultraviolet Irradiance: Its Measurement and Analysis

The student will participate in a program to monitor terrestrial UV irradiation on the surface of the earth. The National UV Monitoring Center collects data from 21 sites throughout the U.S.. The studnet will participate in both laboratory work related to the correlation of sky conditions using a sky camera and UV irradiance obtained with a co-located full-sky spectrophotometer instrument. The student will also analyze corrected data from the sites looking for temporal trends in the UV irradiance and spatial variance with latitude and other climatic conditions of the sites.
