Abstract:
Understanding the early events in protein folding is essential for
understanding how proteins fold. Using laser-induced temperature-jump
(T-jump) method coupled with time-resolved infrared spectroscopy, we can now
study fast folding processes on nanosecond or microsecond time scale.
Specifically, kinetics of the helix-coil transition, beta-hairpin formation,
and the folding of a three-helix bundle protein will be discussed.
