I will describe a variety of issues that we are addressing
concerning the wedding of Java graphical interface programming and
vector graphics (SWF and SVG) formats to produce
lightweight, user-friendly visualization tools for
scientific applications. I will use some of these tools to
illustrate results from a new stochastic algorithm that we
have developed for element production in astrophysical environments
that has particularly attractive scaling behavior, both with respect
to network size and with respect to implementation on parallel processors.
