New or continuing graduate students in the Department who have been awarded a full or partial teaching assistantship cannot convert any part of their teaching assistantship to another form (e.g., research assistantship) after the following deadlines: December 1 for teaching assistantships in the Spring semester, May 1 for teaching assistantships in the Summer semester, and July 15 for teaching assistantships in the Fall semester. The Department Head, in consultation with the faculty lab administrator, is empowered to suspend this policy on a case-by-case basis.
