This talk will be a report on advances in the physics of ergodicity made at UGA during the 2000s. The main progress comes in two phases. Phase I has a basic physical theory on Boltzmann's ergodic hypothesis, presented in Phys Rev Lett in 2001 and elaborated in 5 regular articles. It has given rise to the concept of a gedanken device called an ergometer, with which to test ergodicity. Phase II brings the ergometer into the realm of the ergodic theorems by the celebrated mathematicians Birkhoff and Khinchin. The meeting of the two cultures, physics and math, constitutes a first step in developing the science of ergometry. The work is described in two articles in Phys Rev Lett this year. I believe that these advances have made UGA a foremost center in the physics of ergodicity. The talk will be at a general level, mostly qualitative and in pictorial form.
